Wisconsin basketball is all set to get back on the court after a long break, as the Badgers are scheduled to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes this Friday night at Kohl Center in Madison. However, the Badgers will not be fully healthy when they take on the Hawkeyes, with first-year center center Riccardo Greppi out with an injury.

Wisconsin freshman Riccardo Greppi will be out for an unknown period of time after suffering a leg injury in practice, but Greg Gard said the injury won’t require surgery.
Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Gard talks about Riccardo Greppi’s injury ahead of Iowa clash
On Thursday, Gard told reporters that Greppi suffered the said injury in practice.
“[Greppi] got banged up in a four-on-four transition drill, got caught up, or got hit on a rebound,” Gard said (h/t Dillon Graff of Badgers Notes). “Fortunately, it’s not as serious as what we initially thought when it happened. He’s going to be out for some time, but it’s not going to require any type of surgery.”
“He got hit pretty hard from the front, went down hard, but like I said, we’re fortunate that it’s not serious,” Gard continued. “ He’s gonna be out for a little while as he heals up a bit, but it’s better in terms of the information that we got from our doctors than what we initially watched happen.”
While Greppi’s injury is unfortunate news, Wisconsin’s frontcourt should still be able to operate normally. Greppi has seen minimal minutes for the Badgers in the 2024-25 college basketball season, averaging only 2.8 minutes in four appearances. He has a total of four points and seven rebounds to go with an assist and a block this season.
Wisconsin basketball owns a 10-3 record overall but remains winless through two games against Big Ten rivals.
