The Wisconsin basketball staff has continued to do plenty of work in the transfer portal as the staff has begun conversations with a top entry.
UNCG transfer forward Mikeal Brown-Jones is considered to be one of the top entries in the transfer portal currently, and has had plenty of programs reach out thus far. Brown-Jones is an experienced transfer who previously started his collegiate career at VCU. The Badgers have been in contact with Brown-Jones since he hit the portal, and love what the Senior has to offer.
Wisconsin Basketball In Contact With Talented Senior Forward Mikeal Brown-Jones
The Wisconsin basketball staff has continued their search in the transfer portal after contacting one of the premier entries. Former UNCG forward Mikeal Brown-Jones has released a list of 23 schools that have contacted him with offers, and among them is the Wisconsin basketball program. Brown-Jones is a Senior forward for the Spartans, but will now hit the transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career.
The forward started his career at VCU, but after two years of minimal play off the bench, Brown-Jones transferred to the UNCG Spartans. In his first season with the Spartans, the forward played 21 minutes a game while averaging 10.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. This past season, however, Brown-Jones took his play to the next level as he averaged 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds in 28.4 minutes of play per game.
Brown-Jones Has Plenty to Offer for the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team
While Brown-Jones certainly had a career-year this past season, he is not just a flash in the pan and possesses true skills. The forward shot 29.2% from three-point range two years ago, but improved his range by nailing 43.1% from deep this season. Brown-Jones is not going to light up the scoreboard with three after three, but he can knock down shots when he is left open.
The forward also improved his rebounding this past season, as he hauled in 75 more rebounds this past season for the Spartans. Brown-Jones is a physical, talented forward on both sides of the ball, which could make for a perfect fit with the Wisconsin basketball team.
Can the Wisconsin Basketball Staff Land Brown-Jones in the Near Future?
Brown-Jones is arguably the best one-year rental currently available in the collegiate basketball transfer portal. The forward is coming off his best season of play, and his first season as a starter, where he has proven he can do a little bit of everything for his team.
The Wisconsin basketball staff has a true shot at landing Brown-Jones, but it will take plenty of work for sure. Brown-Jones is considered to be a top-ten transfer portal entry at this point with 23 schools already sending in their offers to the forward. The forward is looking to head to a program that can compete after failing to make it out of the Conference Tournament the past two seasons.
