The Wisconsin basketball staff has landed a 2026 forward and kept the talented athlete in the great state of Wisconsin.
LaTrevion “Tre” Fenderson, a 2026 small forward from Racine, Wisconsin, has drawn some interest from big programs early on in his recruitment. Fenderson received scholarships from the Wisconsin basketball program, Iowa State, and UW-Milwaukee before announcing his commitment to the Badgers. The small forward brings plenty of skill and versatility to the Wisconsin basketball team which should certainly come in handy in the future.
Wisconsin Basketball Staff Lands 2026 Commitment in Forward Tre Fenderson
The Wisconsin basketball staff has landed the first commitment to their 2026 class after in-state star Tre Fenderson announced his commitment. Fenderson had been leaning towards committing to the Badgers for quite some time, bringing in two crystal ball predictions before eventually announcing his decision. The forward is the first commitment in the class for Wisconsin and joins the program before earning a star rating.
Fenderson is a talented athlete and quite the physical player, which he proved last season as he put himself on the map with his play. Fenderson averaged a double-double last season, recording 17.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game while adding 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game as well. The forward was a dominant force and did a little bit of everything for his team this past season.
Perhaps what Fenderson did the best for his team last year was slash the basket and attack the defense. Fenderson had his best game of the season when he scored a season-high 34-points against Racine Lutheran in a loss, but displayed what he is best at during the game. Fenderson shot 61.9% from the field and make it to the foul-line three times as well.
The recruit is still raw and has some areas where he is working to get better, such as his shooting accuracy and shot selection. Fenderson shot 29.1% from long-range this past season and shot 64.3% from the free-throw line for his team as well. The forward brings plenty of potential and promise to the Wisconsin basketball program with his early commitment.
What Does Tre Fenderson Add to the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team?
While Fenderson is a 2026 recruit and rather raw, he still has shown great intelligence and an advanced understanding of the game. Fenderson is consistently in the right position to make a play or put a shot back up for a quick bucket. The talented forward knows where to put himself to make a play that will benefit his team, and talent like that usually takes a long time to develop to the level that Fenderson has.
Perhaps the aspect of the mental game and intelligence on the court that Fenderson has the greatest grasp of involves fouls. Fenderson is exceptionally talented at drawing fouls and making his way to the free throw line, where the forward is a knockdown shooter. On the defensive side, Fenderson is still working but already shows a willingness to take contact and get the foul call.
Along with his intelligence and feel for the game, Fenderson also brings a handful of physical skills to the court. The forward comes in at 6-feet-5-inches, 205-pounds and drives through the paint with a certain level of fearlessness. Fenderson risks his body to make plays and uses his length to comfortably take difficult shots in the paint.
Outside of the paint, Fenderson is a solid shooter around the perimeter and averaged 17.1 points per game this past season as he continued to develop his jumper. Fenderson is an athletic finisher, however, and typically elects to attack the paint and finish over a defender.
