The end to the Wisconsin Badgers-Xavier Lucas saga still sees no end as the two camps won’t back down on their respective arguments regarding the player’s departure and alleged tampering by his target school Miami Hurricanes.

The player has been granted permission to join Miami without going through transfer portal, something UW is contesting was trigged by the tampering performed by the Hurricanes.
The decision is predicted to set precedent on the college programs’ ability to enforce their revenue-sharing agreements and make it possible for other students to move to a new team without having to go through the transfer portal.
UW-Madison Athletic Director Chris McIntosh refuse to accept the ruling and commented on the development:
“I’d emphasize the importance of the agreements in which we’re now able to enter into with our student-athletes. It’s not acceptable that those agreements are interfered with.”

He also insisted that “the school continues to “evaluate all of our options” as it relates to former DB Xavier Lucas’ decision to transfer to Miami after signing a rev-share contract with UW.”
Reshad Hudson of Yahoo also reported that McIntosh made a request to a congressional committee that they should write clearer laws for name, image and likeness deals.
Ex Wisconsin Badgers CB’s lawyer responds
Darren Heitner, who has been with Lucas since the player tweeted about his situation, responded to McIntosh saying the program was the one who violated the QB’s rights to seek a new program.
He maintained that the Badgers refused to enter his name in the transfer portal according to the rules, leading to the dispute.
“The Wisconsin athletic director wants help controlling the transfer portal. He runs the athletic program that blatantly violated NCAA rules regarding the transfer portal with Xavier Lucas. Congress shouldn’t do his dirty work…Continue to evaluate those options, because escalating will render your contracts unenforceable,” he said.

Lucas was a freshman last season and played all 12 games for the team that failed to secure a Bowl game, their worst finish since 2001.
