The Wisconsin Badgers football team announces Marcus Sedberry as its general manager. He will handle roster management, player personnel, and football operations. Sedberry has been a deputy athletic director/chief operating officer since 2022.
He spent five years at Baylor before coming to Wisconsin in 2022, and his role there included football sports administrator. He’s worked with the Philadelphia Eagles as a director of Player Engagement (2014-16) and at Arkansas as an associate AD for student-athlete development.
Thoughts on The Sedberry Hire
It feels impossible to say. This whole GM of college football teams is new and going to be hard to predict.
This was a good hire however he needs more structure and administrative experience. Let Pat Lambert and the crew focus on talent evaluations and recruiting.
What Sedberry Needs to Do for The Badgers
As long as Sedberry meshes well with the staff this will be a good hire. He is well connected within the collective which is as important for the job as is any recruiting or football insights where the staff and recruiting departments exist anyway.
Getting a handle on the business side of College Football is great, but it is ultimately about attracting and retaining talent that wins games. It is all still about wins and losses.
