The Wisconsin Badgers recently turned attention towards the 2027 recruiting class and now have made a program cut-down for a recruit.
Quinton Cypher, a four-star linebacker in the 2027 class, stands in at 6-foot-2-inches and roughly 220-pounds while holding 26 scholarship offers thus far into his recruitment. Cypher is currently ranked as the 136th recruit nationally and the tenth overall linebacker in the 2027 class.
Cypher is also the sixth-ranked recruit in North Carolina as a four-star recruit, highlighting the depth of talent that is set to come out of the state. The linebacker has been arguably one of the most productive linebackers in the class, recording 330 tackles, 16 sacks, and two forced fumbles over the past two seasons.
The North Carolina native also recorded 40 tackles for loss across the last two seasons and has established himself as a presence in the backfield each play. Cypher has displayed mature development on the field but also in the recruiting process as well. The recruit recently announced his first list of finalist programs which is ahead of schedule compared to most of the 2027 recruiting class.
Wisconsin Badgers Make Initial Recruiting List for 2027 Linebacker Quinton Cypher

The linebacker has begun preparing himself for a commitment and announced his first cut-down of programs with an 11 team list produced recently. Wisconsin was able to make the cut alongside Tennessee, North Carolina, LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Duke, Clemson, and Ohio State.
The Wisconsin Badgers are in a good position early on with Cypher, but the linebacker will be a difficult recruit to lure into the state given his ability on the field and the programs set to close in on the linebacker. Cypher is a very mature player and a team leader in the middle of the defense which is something that collegiate programs often search high and low for. In addition to being an excellent leader on the field, Cypher is also a dynamic defender with prototypical size for the position.
Cypher is currently considered to be the top linebacker on the recruiting board for Wisconsin and will be a priority moving forward. The Badgers aim to bring the linebacker on campus for a game-day visit during the upcoming season but nothing has been set in stone yet.
While the linebacker may have made a cut-down on the programs recruiting him, the list is bound to change in the future and other programs could enter the fold as plenty of time is left before the rest of the 2027 recruiting class announces decisions. The Wisconsin Badgers are early leaders but will have to maintain a close relationship with Cypher throughout the upcoming season.
