Paul Haynes has to scramble and look for a serviceable cornerback after Nyzier Fourqurean was deemed ineligible to play another year for Wisconsin Badgers football this 2025. The team said they already appealed their case.

There’s still no final and official roster but the team got these spring practices to determine who will get the starting role.
Omillio Agard and D’Yoni Hill are being favored by head coach Luke Fickell the last time he was asked about their contingency plan with Fourqurean unable to play at the moment.
“Omillio is a guy that I would tell you right off the bat, has been playing over there a lot,” Fickell told reporters last month.

“D’Yoni Hill is a guy that we brought in. Had him playing a bit more on the other side, but he’s a guy we’re going to have to rely upon and see how well he can do.”
Paul Haynes names Cairo Skanes as CB with huge potential
Skanes is a freshman who previously committed to Miami RedHawks but Fickell and company were able to flip him.
One can say they hit a good deal with Skanes as according to Haynes, the young player is someone who is already showing maturity and is someone who is supersmart.
His best asset? Being able to pick up lessons as quickly as possible.
“I think he’s super smart. You know, for a young kid to come in and just, you know, he picks up on things very, very fast,” Haynes said in an interview with Badger 247’s Nick Osen.
“As far as the concepts of the defense, he still gets himself in trouble with his eye control. And that’s what happens a lot of times with young guys, is with their eye control.

Haynes said the sky is the limit for Skanes.
“He can run. He’s big. He’s, you know, 186 or 187 pounds as a freshman,” he continued.
“Is super smart, so again, sky’s the limit for him, you know, I think we’ll see him on some special teams and maybe see him down the road, out there on defense.”
Skanes spent his high school with Providence Day School in North Carolina where he recorded 80 tackles (3 tackle for loss), eight interceptions , seven pass break ups in his last year.
