In the world of NIL, the Wisconsin Badgers have become more and more competitive in the space than many fans previously thought.
NIL, or name, image, and likeness deals, have shaken up college football in many ways, including how a roster is both created and maintained. Some teams have put together massive budgets specifically for the retention of players, while other teams cast aside money to spend in the transfer portal.
For the Wisconsin Badgers, spending has not been crazy compared to other major programs but when Wisconsin likes someone, they go all-in. Currently, the Badgers have one of the least expensive rosters in the Big Ten Conference but the program does have a major earner and potential future NFL draft pick.
Ricardo Hallman Revealed to be Top Earning NIL Athlete on Wisconsin Badgers Roster
Currently, Ricardo Hallman is the most expensive player on the Wisconsin Badgers roster despite big transfer portal additions. Hallman was previously the second-highest paid player on the roster a season ago behind quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who shared a very similar NIL evaluation. The Badgers added quarterbacks Danny O’Neil and Billy Edwards Jr, but Hallman remains the highest paid player via NIL payments on the roster.
The Badgers previously almost lost the corner back to the transfer portal as Hallman aimed to test new waters this off-season. Hallman previously held an NIL evaluation of $394k in February, but opted to return to Madison in the end despite likely receiving solid offers.

Ultimately, Hallman chose to return to the Badgers for what must have been a very competitive offer considering the corner back listened to both the NFL and other programs before returning. Wisconsin will count heavily upon the veteran corner back during the upcoming season as Hallman looks to return to form. The corner back faced a down year a season ago after putting himself on the map with a seven interception 2023 season that shocked many.
