Wisconsin Badgers football’s preparation for the new season is now underway and team will put their attempt to get back up on the shoulders of new quarterback Billy Edwards Jr.
The 6’4 QB, who transferred to University of Wisconsin after a successful season with the Maryland Terrapins, showed out in his first practice with the team.

He will be the team’s QB1 after the departure of Tyler Van Dyke to SMU Mustangs.
Head coach Luke Fickell is liking what he is seeing so far from Edwards Jr.
“You study them first before you have any idea of who people really are, and it’s easy to pop on the film and things like that,” Fickell said as quoted by 247 Sports.
“I knew that I believed in what we’ve seen, he was a ball-player.”

Offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes had an earlier audience for Edwards Jr. and like Fickell, he sees a solid player.
“I saw a guy that had toughness, that was able to stand in there and take a lot of hits and not impact how he played the game,” Grimes said of Edwards as quoted by Badgers Notes.
Wisconsin Badgers got themselves a leader
Edwards Jr. played for all 11 games Maryland had last season and he completed 237 out of his 420 passes of 65 percent success rate.
Fickell is confident that they got a stud in him and that he is a capable leader.

“Obviously we’re still seeing a lot more about him as a player,” Fickell said.
“But everything from the get-go as a leader, as a guy that understands the maturity of what it takes and what it looks like to be a pro, he’s been an incredible example since he’s walked in here.”
