The Milwaukee Bucks’ very own Fiserv Forum will be among the hosts of the first and second round of the NCAA tournament this year and Max Klesmit of the Wisconsin Badgers would not mind to play there.
The Badgers have played there before but as visitors of their state rivals Marquette Golden Eagles. Playing as the pride of Wisconsin, just like the Bucks, will be a different experience for him.
“I think it would be awesome to get to play in Milwaukee and get to be able to experience that environment,” he said when asked by The Swing hosts about the chances of playing in the state.
He is especially in awe of the venue’s loud crowd and support.
“They speak about how loud it was and how fun of an environment it was, that’s definitely something, as an in-state guy, you kind of want to hope you play closer here hometown for the NCAA tournament,” he said.
Klesmit is making sure, however, that the excitement will not lead to them forgetting the main thing they are playing for.
“I would say we’re hopeful for that but also know it’s something we gotta work for. It’s not something that just kind of get strapped out of the sky, especially in college basketball you have to work for it. In the Big Ten, there’s never a night off.”
Wisconsin Badgers’ hot run
The chances of Klesmit’s wish happening right now.
The Badgers are on a roll and have been placed as no. 3 seed by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee for the upcoming March Madness.
This is all thanks to their stellar run this month, recording five straight wins, including a huge win against Purdue Boilermakers.
But like Klesmit, head coach Greg Gard is not thinking about that yet.
“It’s great for our fans and our alums and obviously we’re getting a lot of national attention right now. But in terms of the work that we have to put in every day, that doesn’t change,” he said.
The Badgers will return to action on Saturday to face the Oregon Ducks who are on their own three-game winning streak.
