Not many Wisconsin Badgers fans had high expectations for the 2024-2025 college basketball season. Wisconsin was projected to finish as a non-NCAA tournament this season, but it seemed as if John Tonje and the Badgers had other ideas.

Wisconsin finished with a 23-8 record during the regular season and a 13-7 record in BIG10 Conference play. They are the fifth seed in the BIG10 Tournament for the second consecutive season. Tonje played with the Missouri Tigers before joining the Badgers through the transfer portal last offseason.
Wisconsin Badgers John Tonje Named To All BIG10 First Team

It is not a surprise that Tonje was the best player for the Badgers all season long. It was also not a surprise that he was also one of the best players in the BIG10 Conference as well this season. On Tuesday, it was announced that,
“That’s UNANIMOUS First-Team All-Big Ten John Tonje, to you. Congrats JT!”
In 31 games this season for the Badgers, he averaged 18.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 1.7 APG, along with shooting 46.0% from the field. Since the 2001-2002 season, Wisconsin has 18 all-first BIG10 selections. Only the Purdue Boilermakers have more in that span with 21.
Other Honors

Four other players made the all-first BIG10 team, other than John Tonje. Derik Queen of the Maryland Terrapins, Brice Williams of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Trey Kaufman-Renn of the Purdue Boilermakers, and Braden Smith of the Purdue Boilermakers also made the list. This is a very interesting list. It is not a surprise that Tonje of the Badgers made the list.
However, the Michigan State Spartans or the Wolverines did not have a single player on this list either. Badgers fans were happy that Tonje made this list. He was no doubt the best player for them this season also.
