The Wisconsin Badgers have begun to shift the recruiting focus to the 2027 class which happens to be full of incredible talent.
The 2027 recruiting class is arguably one of the more talented ones early on and with another season up ahead, many recruits may progress further and gain an additional star. One such recruit is elite wide receiver Jaden Upshaw, the current 105th overall recruit and 19th wide receiver in the class according to 247Sports.
Upshaw has the potential to again soar in the rankings, and with the developing tools the receiver possesses, the concept seems likely. The Georgia native is currently a four-star recruit but would only need a slight rating increase to make the jump to a five-star recruit.
Upshaw stands at 6-foot-2-inches and 198-pounds with both a great frame for the position and a powerful body that often catches opposing defenses off guard. When asked about what sets himself apart from other receivers, Upshaw stated, “I’ll say my ability to dominate [defensive backs] blocking wise and how I’m a very physical wide receiver.”
On the field, Upshaw certainly did not downplay his abilities as the receiver can drop a defender with a powerful block if needed. The massive frame of Upshaw works both as a weapon to create space and reel in receptions while also providing a roadblock for opposing defensive backs when blocking. Moving the receiver is not an easy task between his size, excellent balance, and awareness on the field.
Wisconsin Badgers 2027 Target Jaden Upshaw Growing Close to Michigan, Other Programs as Recruitment Heats up
The recruiting process has been a busy one for the talented wide receiver as more than two dozen programs have extended scholarships. Among the programs who have extended a scholarship to Upshaw are Texas A&M, Miami (FL), Louisville, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida State.
Another notable program which extended an offer to Upshaw recently is Big Ten Conference Rival Michigan, who also secured a visit with the receiver. When asked about what the conversations with Michigan have been like, the receiver stated, “The connection has been great and there has been communication with me almost everyday and it is not just always about football.”
Communication and clarity are key for Upshaw, who previously stated the offer from Michigan “meant a lot” before booking a visit with the program. Upshaw has also visited Florida (twice), Georgia, and Auburn unofficially so far and likely will continue to make stops at different campuses throughout the year.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, Upshaw is a prime fit for the offense due to his physical nature and confident receiving abilities. The receiver would benefit the offense in a manner similar to current Badgers receiver Chris Brooks Jr. while providing freakish athleticism alongside his natural skillset.
The 2027 class is still overall a question mark for the Badgers as the staff is sorting through the class to create a proper recruiting board. However, some names have stood out early for the staff and the talented receiver is one of the newest ones. When asked about his current thoughts on Wisconsin, Upshaw stated, “Wisconsin is definitely a school I will consider you know, I talk to coach Reid almost everyday too.”
Moving forward, the Wisconsin Badgers and coach Jordan Reid will need to continue to keep close contact with the recruit. Upshaw already holds a very respectable list of programs who have offered a scholarship, but more are certainly on the horizon with the upcoming season looming.
