It’s been an honor and a privilege to be a Badger. Words cannot express how much I love this program, the city of Madison, and the state of Wisconsin…I look forward to the future of the Wisconsin Badgers and am proud to represent UW as I begin the next chapter of preparing for the NFL draft. As I move forward to my new challenge, I will always be a Badger. On Wisconsin.
The Nelson family is a mainstay of the Badgers football program.
His father, Todd, also played for Wisconsin as an offensive line and went on to become an NFL player through the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989.
His younger brother Barrett is currently part of the team, also as an offensive tackle.
Jack grew steadily in his five years with the team.
He made 50 career starts in total during his four seasons, getting named to the is 2021, 2022, and 2024 All-Big Ten honorable mention selections.
Jack Nelson’s 2025 NFL Draft Buzz
Nelson will be one of the biggest in the 2025 draft at 6’7 and 311 lbs.
Many scouts think he is NFL ready.
The Draft Network praised him saying for his “toughness, physicality, and size you desire to an NFL offensive line room.”
It further wrote:
Nelson is a good and reliable run blocker. He is experienced in both gap and zone run concepts. Nelson’s ability to make contact and displace defenders laterally makes him a nice fit for a zone-based run offense. There is versatility with alignment as Nelson has taken 769 of his 2,369 overall snaps at right guard. He does a good job running his feet at the point of attack on running plays. He works well to cut off backside defenders.
Right now, he is expected to go fourth or fifth round in the draft.
