The Wisconsin Badgers are preparing to face the #1 Oregon Ducks this weekend at home. Wisconsin is 5-4 this season and Oregon has yet to lose a game and they are 10-0 this season.
The Badgers were on a bye last week. During the bye week, Wisconsin staffer Jack Del Rio was arrested on Friday because he drove while intoxicated.
Wisconsin Badgers Staffer Jack Del Rio Resigns From Position On Monday
The report of Jack Del Rio driving while intoxicated came out on Monday. He did this early Friday morning. Del Rio was arrested for his actions. On Monday, he decided to resign from coaching with the Wisconsin Badgers football program. Del Rio said in a statement on Monday:
“I’m grateful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to work with such a talented coaching and support staff and some of the best young football players in the country. I have decided to step away from my position with the team, so they can focus all their attention on the remainder of the season.”
It will be interesting to see what the final record for the Wisconsin Badgers will be this season in college football. Many Badgers fans are not fond of head coach Luke Fickell in his second season. It is going to be interesting to see how the Del Rio incident will affect this team. It feels like a distraction to the team.
Coached In the NFL
Along with coming to the Wisconsin Badgers earlier this season, he has coached in the NFL. He was once a head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Raiders when they were in Oakland and not Las Vegas. Before coming to Wisconsin, he was the defensive coordinator with the Washington Commanders.
Del Rio is 61 years old. This latest incident could be a reason why he will never coach football again at any level whether it is college or the NFL.
