No. 18 Wisconsin Badgers hockey star forward Quinn Finley is nearing a feat that hasn’t been done by a Badger since the days of Cole Caufield in Madison.
According to Wisconsin Hockey’s official X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), Finley can become the first player in the program to score at least 20 goals in a season as soon as this Friday’s night game in Minneapolis against the No. 4 Minnesota Golden Gophers.
19 for No. 19 – @QuinnFinley2 scored his ‘Golden Goal’ last weekend. Next one makes him first Badger since @ColeCaufield to reach 20.

Caufield had a fantastic stint with the Wisconsin Badgers. He played for two seasons with the school, scoring 19 goals and recording 17 assists for 36 points through 36 games during the 2019-20 campaign. The following season, he went off for 30 goals and 22 assists for 52 points in just 31 games, thus becoming the first player in Big Ten history to lead the league in scoring in consecutive seasons.
Drafted in the first round (15th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Caufield made his debut in The Show in the 2020-21 campaign with the Habs.
As for Finley, he is continuing to polish his skills as he looks forward to a pro career soon. He’s already been drafted by the New York Islanders in the third round of the 2022 NHL Entry draft, and he can further increase the Isles’ excitement in him by racking up more goals and assists this season with the Badgers.
