The Wisconsin Badgers dipped into the transfer portal this offseason to snag three notable names, but one has yet to debut for the team.
Guard Camren Hunter saw action in the exhibition against UW-River Falls, but has since missed the first two regular season games. Initially, many thought Hunter suffered an injury, but it was later revealed to be an illness sidelining the guard. Hunter has not been present for the team while dealing with his current illness despite many expecting the guard to make his debut.
Following the win over the Holy Cross Crusaders, Hunter was upgraded to available for Wisconsin, per the Big Ten Conference inactivity reports. However, Hunter did not play for the Badgers against Montana State which has grown the concerns of many.
In a time where college basketball and college sports in general an in such a fragile state, the chances of losing players have become extremely high. With the old-school, earn your playing time style of coaching that Greg Gard offers, some of the younger generation might be rubbed the wrong way.

However, everything stated by fans and analysts regarding the status of Hunter has been speculation up to this point, with Hunter staying quiet. The guard is expected to make his official debut against App State, but will still have to put in tough practices before doing so.
The talented guard transferred over to the Wisconsin Badgers from Central Arkansas, where he started all 60 games he played in across two seasons. The guard averaged 15.5-points per game, five rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game during his career with the team.
Wisconsin Badgers Set to Face Another Test Against App State Ahead of Rough Arizona Game
While Hunter is expected to play against App State, the Wisconsin Badgers will need to secure a win no matter who is on the court for the team.
App State is currently ranked as the 155th school in college basketball and while they are the toughest team Wisconsin has faced yet, they remain an “easy” win. The Wisconsin Badgers have a looming game against #10 Arizona that they must be sharp for, which is why the Badgers needs a confident win over App State.
The Mountaineers dropped 108-points in their opening win over St. Andrews to kick off the 2024 basketball season. The Wisconsin Badgers have not scored over 100-points in a game since doing so against Arkansas State last season, winning 105-76. App State loves to shoot the ball and will shoot the ball with even the slightest bit of space, meaning Wisconsin needs to play solid defense to walk away with a win.
