Wisconsin Badgers’ guard line are feeling great about what they can do. First there was John Blackwell who got fans feeling excited with an X post about Andrew Rohde who they got through the transfer portal from the Virginia Cavaliers.

Nick Boyd, another one from the portal, then previewed his dynamics with Blackwell and Rapp, pertaining to themselves as possibly a three-headed monster on the backcourt.
That’s what one analyst is seeing, too.
CBS writer Isaac Trotter in an article titled “101 Days Out: College basketball stars, new faces, contenders, storylines ahead of 2025-26 season” said Wisconsin may have one of the best offenses in the 2025-26 season.

“The Badgers have three guards who can play on or off the ball in John Blackwell, Andrew Rohde and Nick Boyd, surrounding two sweet-shooting forwards (Austin Rapp and Nolan Winter),” he wrote.
“That’s a dangerous combination offensively.”
John Blackwell as Wisconsin Badgers’ best player
Badgers have a new look this season with their starting line up getting filled by those acquired from the transfer portal (Boyd, Rohde, and Austin Rapp).
Another thing they will work out is the departure of John Tonje who was their top scorer from last season and is now in the NBA after getting drafted by the Utah Jazz.
Trotter thinks head coach Greg Gard would not miss him that much because of Blackwell.
“Losing John Tonje stings, but the Blackwell is the total package and has All-America upside as the go-to alpha,” the writer said.

Blackwell was the team’s second best scorer last season. He also tried for the NBA draft but withdrew one week before Draft Day.
He said he gained a lot of lessons from his time during the draft process and he came back to the team for an unfinished business.
“It was a great experience — one of the best experiences of my life,” he shared.
“I just want to continue to grow and learn from it. I feel like I did. I definitely got better. That was the goal.”
