The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has continued their recruiting momentum with another huge commitment.
Jay Harper, a 2024 three-star corner back from Alabama, chose the Badgers over Kentucky, Louisville, and Georgia Tech among others. Harper held 14 scholarship offers and made multiple official visits this month. The recruit visited campus ten days ago and could not find another campus like Madison. Harper is the 16th commitment of the 2024 recruiting class for the Badgers.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Secures 16th Commitment Of 2024 Recruiting Class
Coming in at 6-feet, 170-pounds, Harper is excellent in coverage and excels at making plays on the ball. Harper has blazing speed and despite his weight, the corner back packs a punch when hand fighting with receivers. Harper is not a player that quarterbacks enjoy testing because of his versatility and ability to make incredible plays on the ball. Compared to the other defensive backs the Badgers have landed, Harper is a bit small, but his play style makes up for his dip in weight.
The Wisconsin football staff offered Harper a scholarship just before his official visit this month. When Harper arrived on campus, he had the chance to meet with position coach Paul Haynes for the first time. Haynes has been the primary contact for Harper and has helped the Wisconsin football team grow their defense this off-season. Harper completed official visits with Louisville and Mississippi State recently, but announced on Twitter he would make his commitment shortly after leaving his Madison visit.
With the commitment of Harper, the Wisconsin football staff has landed their 16th commitment of the class from the 11th different state. Wisconsin has truly looked everywhere they can to find the recruits they feel will mold into their program the best. No matter how far, Wisconsin is committed to finding the correct fit over the most highly recruited players.
