After the Wisconsin Badgers had a scare with a top corner back, the athlete will be able to continue to practice with the program during the season.
Starting defensive back Nyzier Fourqurean has been in the middle of a tough legal battle against the NCAA in hopes of securing eligibility for the upcoming football season. Fourqurean spent time at the Division-II level which counts towards his Division-I clock and the available five years of eligibility. The defensive back exhausted his eligibility last season, but has fought for an added year due to his time served at the Division-II level.
However, the fight has not exactly been a successful one as a previous preliminary injunction was overturned and Fourqurean is currently only a practice player. Even that role seemed impossible to keep after his appeal window expired, however, Fourqurean has been told he can continue to practice with the program while awaiting a final decision.
Wisconsin Badgers Still Allowed to Practice with Nzyier Fourqurean Despite Ongoing Legal Battle
While the staff and fans had initially thought Fourqurean could no longer practice with the program due to his 30-day window expiring, an error in the filing process will actually allow the defensive back to return.
Fourqurean can still practice, I’ve been told. There was an error in the filing that said he wasn’t allowed to practice after 30 days waiting for an appeal ruling.
Still, as Fickell wrote in his declaration, extended time w/o playing and practice being different. #Badgers https://t.co/v9n6ND4B0g

Fourqurean is still allowed to practice, and according to Colten Bartholomew of BadgerExtra the initial issue surrounding practice was a result of an error in the original filing. The NCAA will allow Fourqurean to continue to practice with the Wisconsin Badgers while awaiting a decision on his eligibility.
The news of Fourqurean being able to practice with the Badgers might give some a small sigh of relief, but the main point head coach Luke Fickell had been trying to convey still has not landed. Fickell is a strong believer that Fourqurean needs another season working each day on and off of the field with the staff in order to have a stronger chance at becoming a professional. Reducing his playing time off the bat will hurt his development regardless of the outcome of the practice situation.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, the main focus now will involve continuing to push Fourqurean and develop the defensive back without the help of games. A final decision has still not been made and Fourqurean could very well return for the final quarter of the season, which means staying ready is imperative. The next question that will need to be answered is whether or not Fourqurean will be eligible to return to play and finish the 2025 season as an official member of the program.
