The Wisconsin Badgers kept the game competitive against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday night. There were times in the first half that it looked like Wisconsin could pull off the upset against Penn State, but things changed in the second half.
With the Badgers leading 10-7 in the third quarter, Braedyn Locke threw an interception to Jaylen Reed and he returned it 19 yards for a touchdown. Penn State never looked back after that moment against Wisconsin and the Nittany Lions won the game over the Badgers 28-13.
Wisconsin Badgers Fans Want Quarterback Braedyn Locke Benched After Loss Against the Penn State Nittany Lions
Locke has started a few games for the Badgers ever since Tyler Van Dyke had a season-ending injury. Braedyn Locke did not perform well against the Nittany Lions. He completed 22-of-42 passes for 217 yards and one interception. Locke did not throw a touchdown pass in this game.
There were Badgers fans after the game who wanted Locke benched. Here is what they said on Twitter:
Look me in the eye and tell me Mabrey would be worse. pic.twitter.com/kvavn2fRaj

Locke was horrid but hey at least our WRs made it 10x harder on him!

Fickell should consider starting the backup next week against Iowa. Locke has had his chances

Qb can’t throw, receivers can’t catch, RB can’t run and our OL Can’t protect. Terrible

There is no possible way that Locke is the best QB in that locker room.

For better or worse, they are stuck with Locke as the quarterback for now. Mabrey Mettauer is the backup quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers. If Wisconsin continues to lose or if Braedyn Locke continues to play poorly, maybe the freshman quarterback will play before the end of the season.
Iowa Hawkeyes Next Opponent
With the loss, the Badgers dropped to 5-3 on the season under head coach Luke Fickell and the Nittany Lions improved to 7-0 this season. This weekend, the Iowa Hawkeyes will face the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin will travel to Iowa and kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT on NBC.
The Hawkeyes are also 5-3 on the year. This will be the game that Braedyn Locke will need to be better in. If that doesn’t happen, the calls for Mabrey Mettauer to start for the Badgers will only grow louder from the fanbase.
