Max Stienecker became the youngest director of personnel when he joined the Wisconsin Badgers for such role in 2023 at 2022 years old. He then became a general manager and was able to build a relationship with players that are not too far from his age.
Now, that relationship has ended. His bond with the players has been officially limited by signing with the USC Trojans.
National college football writer posted on X about the news:
Wisconsin general manager Max Stienecker has accepted a position at USC, sources tell
@CBSSports/@247SportsOne of the top rising stars in the college front office world headed to work with new USC GM Chad Bowden at USC.
Stienecker played a crucial in Badgers’ line-up restructuring, bringing in two top 25 recruiting classes in his two years with the team.
That is what he is expected to do to USC Trojans. As their new director of personnel, he will help the team bring in talent that analysts say they lacked in past seasons.
2 Wisconsin Badgers react to Max Stienecker’s departure
Stienecker’s stint with the team may be short but that is enough for him to create a bond with the players. This is why his departure is heavy to some.
Freshman Jaylen Williams turned to X to express his feelings about the departure of Max.

Both guys can only hope that they will get to meet on the gridiron their former GM.
The Wisconsin Badgers themselves are undergoing overhaul, too, after a failed 2024 season. They are also undergoing major changes in their coaching staff.
