Lots of things have been said about the Wisconsin Badgers football’s 2024 season and none is probably more scathing the words from the man who helped built it – Barry Alvarez.
Badgers failed to qualify for a Bowl game in 2024 after finishing with a 5-7 overall record. It was the first time they did not reach any post-season game since 2001.

That is the first time in a long while but for Alvarez, it is unacceptable that it happened.
“We worked our fannies off to start winning, win championships, and be good. Go to bowl games every year and damn it, we did it better than everyone for 20-some years. After not going for like a million years,” he said during an appearance at the ESPN Madison show.
Before that, he urged that team to have “pride in this team that they want to come back and bounce back and be relevant again.”
The offseason hasn’t bee that kind to the Badgers and coach Luke Fickell has been underfire since the season finished.
In fact, he is one of the college football coaches predicted to get fired this 2025.

Alvarez ended his take on the Badgers that they need to get back on top during his time.
“Now, these guys have to fight their ass off to get back in that groove and I hope that they understand that. They’ve got a responsibility. I don’t like where we are right now. They need to bounce back and put this program back where it belongs.”
Fickell and the rest of his coaching staff dealt with the exodus of many players through the transfer portal. They were even taken to court by one of them.
They are working hard to get the best talent. Coaches themselves make personal visit to the top prospects of Class of 2026.
Players are also upbeat about their season, like Jaylen Williams who previewed their season saying they are trending in the right direction.
