Wisconsin-native Tre Fenderson will not join Wisconsin Badgers basketball until 2026 but fans can expect a better player compared to the one they discovered in high school. They have everything to feel excited about despite their 2025 finish in the NCAA.
The 6’5 forward from the St. John’s Northwestern Academies is a project that could be developed and he is a willing learner.
His coaches at St. John’s are taking notice on how he was able to adjust his game the last season.
“Tre is discovering how to play when he’s not the most athletic guy on the court,” DME head coach Ben Wisniewski said in an interview with Badger 247.
“He’s improving his skill work. How do you score if you’re not jumping over a guy? He’s really developing in those areas.”
Fenderson himself admitted that he can still improve his skills. This is despite him being away from home.

“It’s been a real challenge to get used to this, but I’m starting to get used to it now,” he said in the same interview.
“To get ready for college, that was my biggest thing. I needed to get bigger, stronger, and make sure my game was sharp.”
Tre Fenderson is growing literally
Fenderson made his commitment to the Badgers in August last year. He was only 6’4 and weight 200 poungs. He is now standing at 6’5 and added five more pounds.
His conditioning and work out with St. John’s includes not just honing his skills on the drives or his offense. It also involves body strengthening.
Wisniewski said the young man already has a making of a Badgers player.

“He’s a typical Wisconsin player, because of his strength and he can post up,” he said.
“But now, they’re playing a little differently. There’s more pace and left post-up. But I do know they still post all their players. Tre’s got a great post-up game. He’s got a consistency and tenacity defensively.”
