The Milwaukee Bucks visited the San Antonio Spurs Friday night, which meant fans got to see two basketball aliens go at it on the court. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victor Wembanyama were clearly the main attractions of this game at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, with the two making sure that they lived up to the hype. Wembanyama even got the better of Antetokounmpo on not just one but at least two occasions, defensively.
Sparks flew between the two early in the contest, as just two minutes into it, Wembanyama swatted away a couple of Antetokounmpo ‘s shot attempts in back-to-back possessions.
Victor Wembanyama flexed defensive muscles on Giannis Antetokounmpo
Firstly, Antetokounmpo tried to get by the long arms of Wembanyama under the basket but he got denied by the Spurs youngster, leading to a transition bucket by San Antonio. Antetokounmpo got the ball back in the next possession and this time he tried to take Wembanyama off the dribble. Well, Wembanyama showed his defensive versatility again, as he perfectly timed Antetokounmpo’s shot for yet another rejection.
Antetokounmpo is already one of the most imposing basket specimen out there but even he can’t out-unicorn the unicorn of them all in Wembanyama, whose humbling of the Greek Freak during that sequence is another strong message sent to the rest of the league about his incoming takeover.
I’ve never seen Giannis treated like this with all due respect.

Here are some of the fans’ reactions to those wild Wemby blocks on Antetokounmpo:
“Having Wemby is a cheat code,” said a fan.
Another one said: “He’s unstoppable”
“Get that outta here !” an X user commented.
“Wemby 👽 Block Party,” another social media user posted.
From another comment: “Wemby’s defense is absolutely insane! Two possessions, two blocks he’s showing why he’s the block king.”
Wembanyama and the Spurs also ended up winning the game, 144-118, with the former No. 1 NBA overall pick scoring 30 points on 9-for-20 shooting with 14 rebounds and six blocks. Antetokounmpo was not too shabby despite the Wemby’s rejections, as he had a game-high 35 points on 13-for-23 shooting with 14 rebounds and six assists.
