Wade Miley, currently age 38, has spent 14 seasons in the big leagues. Unfortunately on May 7 last year, he underwent hybrid Tommy John surgery, thus ending his season prematurely. Now nearly eight months into his rehabilitation process, the southpaw is pushing the envelope in his rehab, eyeing an early May 2025 return, and would prefer to come back to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Wade Miley is pushing the envelope in his rehab from elbow surgery
In a recent publication by Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wade Miley said the next step in his rehab is making sure he can throw off the mound. From there it’s making sure that he can recover, potentially get into spring training games during the second half, start the year with a rehab assignment, and ultimately join a big league rotation by early May.
“I told the doc when this happened that I’m not dragging this thing for 14 to 16 months. I need you to understand that if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. And that’s on me. I know I’m being a little reckless for a 38-year-old. I think it can work.”

The Milwaukee Brewers and Wade Miley have had discussions regarding a return in 2025
According to Curt Hogg, the Brewers and Wade Miley have discussed him returning to the organization in 2025. Right now, Miley’s agent is pushing for a Major League deal, but Milwaukee is not ready to commit to that. If it boils down to a minor-league deal, Miley said he has no issue taking that, if there are incentives included.
Where would Wade Miley fit in the starting rotation?
As the Brewers roster stands today, adding Wade Miley to either a major or minor-league deal, would be a depth signing. As Milwaukee found out a season ago, when they tied a franchise record for 17 different starting pitchers used, that depth is very valuable.
