The 2024-25 NBA season continues to be a brutal one for RJ Barrett and the Toronto Raptors. On Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks added to the Raptors’ woes by taking down Toronto, 128-104, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The Raptors are losing at a high rate this season.
They have only a win to show in their last 14 games, a stretch that dates back to early December. That lone win in that span came last Wednesday in a 130-113 triumph over the Brooklyn Nets, but since then, the Raptors went winless in two games.
RJ Barrett gets real about Toronto Raptors’ effort vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Barrett can never get used to losing. He did not hold back about his true feelings on his team’s effort in the Bucks game.
“Tonight I don’t think was about us getting used to each other,” Barrett said after the game (h/t Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports). “I think we just didn’t play hard enough, top to bottom. Gotta figure it out. Just playing hard, man. Just being that team that we were… I feel like we didn’t have our fight tonight so that’s disappointing”
“It’s ok if you lose a game that you fight and you played hard and you gave all that you could, but I don’t think we did that tonight, so I think that’s the disappointing part about it.
Barrett surely showed some fight, as he led Toronto with 25 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field while also grabbing nine boards and five assists. Without those numbers, it would have been a worse night for Toronto, which only has eight wins on the season.
As a team, Toronto shot just 45.1 percent from the field and committed 15 turnovers.
Up next for the Raptors is a three-game road trip that begins this Wednesday against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
