The Brooklyn Nets have been one of the biggest stories in the NBA for the 2024-2025 season. A lot of people believe that the Nets should be tanking, but they are 5-7 this season and have been a respectable opponent across the league. There is no doubt that General Manager Sean Marks will be selling at some point, but what if he wants to buy?
Over the next couple of years, they will have a ton of draft capital to make a surprising move. One name that they could land in a trade is Milwaukee Bucks superstar player Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Hoopshype.com Writer Mark Deeks Thinks That the Brooklyn Nets Could Trade For Milwaukee Bucks Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo
Hoopshype.com writer Mark Deeks thinks that there are eight teams who could very well make an attempt to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. One of the teams who might make a move for him is the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets have been known for taking big swings before, but it just hasn’t worked out for them.
Deeks said:
“Whatever else we can say of the Nets franchise since its move from New Jersey to Brooklyn, we can all agree that they take a chance. They took a chance with the Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett deal of the Mikhail Prokhorov days, they took a chance assembling the Kevin Durant/Kyrie Irving/James Harden trio, and they took a chance blowing it up and venturing into the darkness. Perhaps, then, it is in their nature to take one more.
Additionally, we can surely all agree that the massive expiring salary of Ben Simmons exists mostly as a trade facilitator. Any team looking to shed salary – which a capped-out, tax-burdened Bucks without Giannis would definitely be – should place a call to Brooklyn for that thing, particularly if they can find some use for the much-diminished-yet-useful Simmons on the court for a few months.”
Ben Simmons has had a decent season for the Brooklyn Nets. He is averaging 6.1 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 7.1 APG, along with shooting 62.2% from the field. Simmons and Cam Thomas are why the Nets are a decent basketball team this season.
The Milwaukee Bucks would be able to accumulate a boatload of draft picks from Brooklyn. Milwaukee is lacking draft capital right now.
Nets Trying To Tank
The Brooklyn Nets will own four first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Many people think that the Nets should tank for Duke Blue Devils superstar Cooper Flagg. However, even if they weren’t to land Flagg, this is a very deep draft class.
The only way that Brooklyn this season does not keep one of its first-round picks is if they trade them or if the Milwaukee Bucks pick falls into the Top 4 of the 2025 NBA Draft. Milwaukee will most likely not finish in the Bottom 4 in the NBA. All eyes are on the Brooklyn Nets to be making moves before the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline this season.
