The Green Bay Packers have had a rollercoaster of a season but yet are still in the hunt to make the playoffs. The Detroit Lions may have won the Division but the Wildcard spots are still up for the taking.
The Green Bay Packers will need Luck on their Side
Right now the Packers are on the outside looking in with the Rams and Seahawks owning the two remaining playoff spots. Since the Packers beat the Rams in November, they could potentially steal their spot. The Rams play the Giants and 49ers to end the season. The Rams are hot right now but if they lose one of these last two games and the Packers win out, they will take over their spot. If the Packers win out, that will take care of the issue of the Vikings who have the same record. The Falcons hold a tie breaker on the Packers and finish their year with the Bears and Saints. Packers fans must hope they do not win out. The Seahawks have their destiny in their own hands as they have an easier remaining schedule of the Steelers and Cardinals. If they do not win out, that playoff Spot will be up for grabs as well.
The Packers Should Win their Last Two Games
With all these possible scenarios, one thing remains the same. The Green Bay Packers need to win their last two games. And these both are very winnable games. The Vikings are struggling with their quarterback situation and have not even named their starter yet. This team has unfolded more each week, they still play hard but the Packers have the better quarterback who should lead them to victory. The Bears have been playing competitive football and their defense is getting stronger every week. However, the Bears are on a nine game losing streak against the Packers and have to travel to Lambeau in late December. This is a winning formula for Green Bay. The Packers have no excuse but to win that game.
The Defense Must Step it Up
There’s no hiding that this has been a disappointing season on the defensive end for the Packers. They have young talent and good pass rushers. It is confusing to look at this defensive roster on paper and see them struggle this much. The defense doesn’t have to be elite to help the Packers win but it must be functional. Maybe it’s the defensive scheme or maybe it’s the attitude of some of the players. Whatever opinion Packers fans have, they can all agree that it needs to play much better if the Packers want to make the playoffs. Allowing one of the worst offense in football to score 30 points is not acceptable. They don’t need to be the 85 Bears but they give Love and the offense some help. Hopefully the Packers can keep the run game going to help keep this defense of the field.
