Sarah Franklin, now a Wisconsin Badgers volleyball alum, was recently announced as a finalist for the 2025 Honda Sport award for volleyball. She was nominated for this award last year as well, but currently only one other player in program history has won it.
What is the Honda Sport award?
Each year the CWSA (Collegiate Women Sports Awards) recognizes 12 athletes who were the best in their respective sport. Finalists are selected by votes that are accumulated from over 1,000 NCAA administrators. The award winner then becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year award.
Who are the finalists for the 2025 Honda Sport award?
In addition to Sarah Franklin of the Wisconsin Badgers, three other players have been named finalists in volleyball. From Pittsburgh Olivia Babock was nominated, Kentucky’s Brooklyn DeLeye, and Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez.
Sarah Franklin is aiming to become the Wisconsin Badgers second Honda Sport award winner
Last year, Sarah Franklin was a Honda Sport award winner runner up as Madisen Skinner from Texas was the winner. Dana Rettke is the Badgers only other winner as she was recognized for her efforts with the program during the 2021 season. On paper, Franklin statistically improved a lot of her numbers from a season ago, so she stands a very good chance of taking home the award.
