According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, David Bakhtiari and Tyler Boyd are two of the names to keep an eye on in NFL free agency for the New York Jets. This is a not surprise for them because they need a left tackle and another wide receiver for former Green Bay Packers player Aaron Rodgers.
They are in win-now mode this season. They were last season until Rodgers blew out his Achilles in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Boyd is not expected to be back for the Bengals and the Packers are going to be moving in a different direction with the offensive line.
During the 2023 season, Bakhtiari suffered a season-ending injury for the Packers and they missed his leadership on the offensive line. One of the needs for Green Bay this offseason is trying to find a left tackle to protect quarterback Jordan Love for the next decade or so.
It Is Not Surprising That the New York Jets Want Left Tackle David Bakhtiari
It appears as if Rodgers is calling the shots with the Jets’ player personnel over general manager Joe Douglass. This is something that the Packers fanbase does not miss. They are happy with quarterback Jordan Love for the long haul and not needing any players to appease him.
The Jets do need a left tackle and David Bakhtiari is one of Aaron Rodgers’s best friends. This is why he brought over Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb to New York last offseason. Bakhtiari possibly signing with the New York Jets feels so predictable at this point.
The thing is, will he be the same left tackle before the injury? Playing on MetLife Stadium turf is something else and many players complain about that playing surface. David Bakhtiari leaving a well-run organization for a circus act to join Aaron Rodgers would not come as a surprise.
