The Chicago Bears season has gone downhill ever since losing to the Washington Commanders on a Hail Mary. On Sunday, it appeared as if the Bears were going to finally end the 10-game losing streak against the Green Bay Packers until a 46-yard field goal by Cairo Santos was blocked by Karl Brooks.
Green Bay won the game over Chicago 20-19. With the win, the Packers improved to 7-3 on the season and the Bears fell to 4-6 on the season. The Green Bay Packers are on track to make the playoffs this season and the Chicago Bears are on track to miss the playoffs once again this season.
Chicago Bears Could Fire Special Teams Coordinator Richard Hightower After the Latest Loss Against the Green Bay Packers
It was a surprise to see the Bears have a special teams blunder against the Packers. However, dairylandexpress.com writer Jovan Alford thinks that the Packers may force the Bears to make another coaching change in-season. Alford said:
“As for today’s game, the Packers might’ve forced the Bears to consider making another move on their coaching staff.
With three seconds left in the game, the Bears had a chance to send the Packers home with another NFC North loss. All Chicago had to do was make a field goal as Caleb Williams and the offense got them in perfect position.
However, Green Bay’s special teams unit led by Rich Bisaccia made sure they would not go home with a loss.
Packers defensive tackle Karl Brooks was able to move the center and get his hand up to block the potential 46-yard game-winning field goal by Cairo Santos.
According to PFF, the Bears’ special teams unit was ranked 21st, heading into Week 11. After a disappointing end on Sunday, it’s very possible Chicago looks to make a change at one of its coordinator positions, with special teams coach Richard Hightower being in the crosshairs following his unit’s implosion to close the contest.”
This would be the second time this season the Bears would make a change at coordinator if fired the special teams coordinator, Richard Hightower. However, every Chicago fan knows that Matt Eberflus is the one who needs to be fired.
Bears Fired Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron Last Week
After the Chicago Bears lost to the New England Patriots 19-3 a week ago, they decided to fire Shane Waldron as offensive coordinator. Thomas Brown was the new Bears offensive coordinator against the Green Bay Packers and the offense looked better against the Packers defense.
It will be interesting to see how the offense will look for the Chicago Bears for the remainder of the season. This appears to be a lost season for the Bears and even if they don’t fire Richard Hightower now, he will probably be shown the door along with Matt Eberflus at the end of the season.
