Randall Cobb left Sunday’s game early and now we have more info on the injury
Green Bay Packers fans have been stressed as of late with back-to-back losses, but not nearly as much as Green Bay’s players and coaches. With questions about the weapons on offense being the hot story, it will continue to be a focus for a few different reasons.
And one of those is due to an injury in the Week 6 loss.
In the loss to the Jets, the receiving group just got even smaller as Randall Cobb had to leave the game with a lower leg injury. Following the game, more details about the injury have emerged.
Randall Cobb’s injury
Randall Cobb was carted off the field during the third quarter in Sunday’s game. The receiver was visibly in distress and was crying from either pain, emotion, or possibly both. It’s a terrible image to see and heartbreaking for Cobb, his teammates, and fans. You could feel the energy leave the stadium in a game that was already going wrong for Green Bay. After the Jets won everyone waited to see how severe it was and how long he would miss.
Cobbs injury update
Updates came from doctors not long afterward though saying the veteran receiver has suffered a high ankle sprain as Ian Rapoport reported. Nothing was broken but still, we have all seen how painful and how long recovery can take from this injury. Now the question is how does this diminished receiving group get through these games without Randall Cobb. The Packers will need the remaining receivers to step up to this challenge. Pressure will definitely be on Allen Lazard and rookie Romeo Doubs to be the top targets Rodgers needs now. Both have shown flashes that they could be special but neither has been consistent with their play.
Dr. Aaron Rodgers is correct. #Packers WR Randall Cobb did not break his ankle, as X-Rays were negative, source said. He suffered a potential high-ankle sprain, but will have an MRI to determine the severity.

Offensively off track
Rodgers had called for Randall Cobb to have more opportunities in the offense. Then last week Cobb had his best game of the season. This week wasn’t looking the same, unfortunately, before the injury shortened his game.
Now it will be up to the coaches, Rodgers, and the remaining players on offense to get this figured out and turn this around in Cobbs’ absence. Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery as the offense needs the playmaker back as soon as possible.
