Pittsburgh Steelers Aaron Rodgers is the oldest player in the NFL coming in to the 2025 season at 41 years old. He will be 42 when the season concludes. He is alone there are at the top of the list followed by Joe Flacco of the Cleveland Browns.

How about on capability as a starting QB? He and Flacco are at the last two tiers according to NFL coaches and executives.
The Athletic released its list of the best QBs for the 2025 season according to 50 NFL coaches and executives and they are not that kind in assessing Rodgers who is entering his 21st season. They put him in Tier 3 from Tier 2 last season.
Tier 1 is led by three-time champion Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), last year’s MVP Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens), and Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams).

The QBs were ranked based on the tiers they belong to. There are four tiers in total and the first two were dominated by younger players.
Rodgers has the second worst regression, losing a total of nine points from last year.
Aaron Rodgers’ consistency and legs are doubted
It is understandable to see Rodgers out of Tier 1 given his age and the way his last season ended. He last played for the New York Jets and they failed to see the playoffs.
One anonymous official is particularly doubting Rodgers’ overall health, a consistent talking point from critics all through summer.

“Too slow to consistently win with his legs, yet his mind and hard count will have your disguise broken and your D-line in the neutral zone multiple times a game,” one defensive coach said.
Another executive thinks A-Rod can’t have the same situation like his former mentor Brett Favre who tried to beat father time through the Minnesota Vikings in 2009 merely because of the lack of quality support.
“You are hoping for Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings, but they had Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and a bunch of dudes,” one exec commented.
