Aaron Rodgers’ resumè is matched by only a few and he will go down among the greatest to grace the NFL once he decides to hang his cleats. That type of regard for the new Pittsburgh Steelers QB is actually here already.

However, for this season, he should be aware that he is not “him” anymore. That is what a Cleveland Browns legend thinks.
Joe Thomas, who played for the Browns from 2007 to 2017 and named to the Pro Bowl ten times, does not believe A-Rod is still among the best QBs in the new season. This has more to do with the injuries he suffered in recent past.

“There’s not many quarterbacks that have had a bad year coming off injury, as they really get old, and their third or foruth teams, that have found really great success,” Thomas said in The Rich Eisen Show.
Rodgers played with the Jets in the 2024 season and although he is coming off an injury, he still managed to post decent numbers comparable to his last year with the Green Bay Packers.
Aaron Rodgers not in Top 10 QBs
ESPN has release its own ranking of the Top 10 quarterbacks in the new season and A-Rod is not on the list. The sports publication said it is the first time ever that Rodgers did not make the cut.
Number one on the list is Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs followed by last season’s MVP Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

Such ranking is a testament that Rodgers’ game has declined.
For Thomas, being aware of this is what will help Rodgers this season.
“He really needs to humble himself a little bit I think and find a way to get the rest of the locker room to buy into what he’s selling. And to believe ‘Yes, he can be the Aaron Rodgers of old.’
“Until he does that, I think they’re going to be a little lukewarm on his presence.”
