If the Packers are going to mount any sort of legitimate charge at a Super Bowl in the coming weeks, Green Bay is going to need to do something it hasn’t all season.
Potentially opening the playoffs on the road, in Philadelphia against the Eagles, with teams like the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions lurking, if the Packers have any legitimate championship aspirations this team is going to need to figure out how to beat top competition.
Can The Packers Salvage Season With Playoff Run?
Following Sunday’s dreadful 27-25 loss to the Vikings, in Minnesota, the Packers dropped to 0-5 this season against the Eagles, Lions, and Vikings.
Following Sunday’s loss, veteran safety– and first-year Packer, Xavier McKinney issued a stern challenge to his teammates.
“We’ve got to take it upon ourselves to change that narrative,” Packers safety Xavier McKinney said after Sunday’s loss, via ESPN. “We can’t just sit up here and talk about [it]. Like we already went through this feeling. Either we change it or we don’t. If we don’t, it’s not gonna be good for us.”
Last January, the Packers stunned the football world when they throttled the Cowboys, in Dallas, on Wild Card weekend before taking the 49ers to the brink in San Francisco with a trip to the conference championship game at stake.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur acknowledges that while he’s confident his team can change the narrative, there are going to need to be some changes made in order to actually pull it off.
“I think there absolutely is a belief that we can win one of these games,” LaFleur told reporters. “We’ve got to go do it, bottom line. And we’ve got to earn the right to play these guys again. And it ain’t going to be easy. It’s going to be a tough road. But I think it’s a challenge that we’ll gladly accept.”
