The Green Bay Packers have clinched a second consecutive berth in the NFL Playoffs, with sights set on a possible run at bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Titletown.
At least one Packers veteran, who has made just one postseason trip to date in his career, isn’t nearly satisfied with merely qualifying for the playoffs.
Safety Xavier McKinney threw down the gauntlet, two weeks before the postseason kicks off, challenging his teammates to strive for making a lengthy run.
“We made it to the playoffs, but we want to do more than that,” McKinney told reporters. “We didn’t go through everything we went through in OTAs, camp and even throughout the season all the different adversities that we went through throughout the season to just make it.
“We want to go all the way, and I believe we have the team to do it.”
McKinney has been a driving force of the Packers’ success on defense this season, entering Week 17 tied for the league lead with seven interceptions while being an instrumental piece of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s system.
The Packers will aim to surpass last season’s appearance in the NFC Divisional Playoffs, and the way that Green Bay has played over the past two months, this is a team that no other contender wants to face once the postseason gets underway.
