All hopes of Jaire Alexander returning for the Green Bay Packers have gone down the drain after coach Matt LaFleur announced that the veteran cornerback will undergo a season-ending surgery.
This means missed playoffs for him and it is regretful as Alexander is the type of player regarded as among the best defenders in the league.
His teammate Xavier McKinney said the team wanted Alexander back on the gridiron and missing him will be tough.
Good thing for the team, people are stepping up and McKinney said they will rely on the same people come playoff time.
They are Carrington Valentine and Eric Stokes.
“They stepped up a lot,” McKinney said.
“I think everybody’s been ready to go, been prepared and prepared the right way. No matter when their name was called, during this situation, they were always ready to go.”
The team still has one game left, against the Chicago Bears, and they will face either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Los Angeles Rams who both have premier offensive players.
Jaire Alexander’s injury not progressing as expected?
Alexander’s teammates are taking care of business on the field. The same thing cannot be said though when it comes to his recovery.
The words used by LaFleur during a presscon announcing the end of the two-time Pro Bowl’s 2024 season caused some fans to worry.
“Ja, most likely, is going to be done for the rest of the year,” LaFleur told reporters. “It’s unfortunate. It is what it is. I feel for him. He was trying to get his knee right, and it wasn’t getting right. It’s a tough deal for all of us.”
There are now questions what kind of treatment or program he’s taking that prevented him from returning.
Initially, he was expected to return before Super Bowl in case the Packers go that far.
Now, people won’t see him at all in the playoffs.
