Packers’ Undrafted Rookie’s Stock Suddenly Surging

The Packers have built one of the NFL’s most crowded wide receiver rooms with roster spots and playing time likely at a premium, but that hasn’t stopped one of Green Bay’s more unheralded pass catchers from standing out this summer.

Undafted rookie wide receiver Will Sheppard has generated significant buzz following the Packers’ intrasquad scrimmage at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love (10) is seen during the second day of training camp on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

Sheppard, 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds, landed in Green Bay after catching 200 passes for 2,688 yards with 27 touchdowns across five collegiate seasons at Vanderbilt and the University of Colorado.

The quickest path for Sheppard to climb a depth chart such as the one the Packers have built at wide receiver, is by standing out on special teams.

However, given that the Packers already have Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Savion Williams, and Christian Watson already in the mix at receiver, Sheppard might be benefiting most from the snaps Watson isn’t able to take because he’s injured while bolstering his chances of catching on elsewhere later this summer.
