The Packers watched tape on a familiar foe to see how they can help Jordan Love
It’s been a long time since a Green Bay Packers quarterback not named Aaron Rodgers started the offseason as QB1 for the franchise. But that’s exactly what’s happening here in 2023 as the Jordan Love era is officially set to begin.
Love is now the starter for the Packers as they usher in a new era and the hope is that he continues in a long line of success at the position for Green Bay. While we don’t know exactly what Love will be just yet, this is unfamiliar territory for the Packers coaching staff. And as they prepare for the upcoming season, they turned to a familiar foe to find ways to help Jordan Love.
Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich revealed that the team watched tape of the San Francisco 49ers and Brock Purdy:
“We did watch 49ers stuff, but you watch pretty much all the other teams in the NFL that are similar to you in that sense.”

As you recall, Purdy came in when both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo were sidelined for the year with injuries and helped lead the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game before getting hurt. Purdy found success in a quarterback-friendly scheme, something the Packers are trying to do with Jordan Love.
There are some similarities with the two offenses including focusing on the run game. Time will tell if it pays off for the Packers but it’s certainly interesting to see them mention the 49ers.
