The Green Bay Packers are among the hottest teams in football, and thanks to a drubbing of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15, have an outside chance of stealing the NFC North crown as the Detroit Lions battle myriad injuries down the stretch.
Rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was a revelation against the Seahawks. Meanwhile, Jordan Love had one of the finest performances of what has been a strong season for the Packers’ second-year starter.
However, as Green Bay aims to climb the standings in the NFC Playoff picture, a fatal flaw has emerged for the Packers.
“Even with just four losses, the Packers have dug too deep a hole in the wildly strong NFC North,” Brad Gagnon writes for Bleacher Report, pointing out the one reason the Packers won’t win the Super Bowl. “Considering how little this team has been tested in big spots, it’s hard to imagine it keeping it together to win multiple consecutive road playoff games against teams such as Philadelphia, Detroit or Minnesota.”
While the Packers won’t likely have the benefit of a home game at Lambeau Field this postseason, Sunday night’s victory over a balanced and talented Seahawks squad illustrates that Green Bay is capable of hanging with anyone, anywhere.
Whether the Packers can continue this hot streak on the road in the postseason remains to be seen.
