The Green Bay Packers‘ pass rush has been wildly inconsistent this season, and the front office add a potentially key depth piece at defensive end ahead of a pivotal stretch run towards the playoffs.
Tuesday, the Packers signed former New York Giants defensive end Jeremiah Martin to the practice squad.
Martin, 25, produced 9.5 sacks with 65 total tackles, and 15 tackles for loss across five collegiate seasons at Texas A&M and the University of Washington, before signing as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns following the 2023 NFL Draft.
After being released coming out of his rookie training camp, Martin signed with the New York Giants’ practice squad, before being released this past May.
Martin also spent time in the UFL, where he spent time with the Birmingham Stallions.
Signing Martin to the practice squad gives the Packers the chance to evaluate whether he can become a rotational player at a position of need in the short-term future.
