The Packers’ offensive line depth just took another hit. One of their rookie offensive linemen tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Packers rookie Sean Rhyan has been suspended six games for violating the NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.

Packers Rookie Sean Rhyan Suspended
The curse of the third round continues. At this point, the Packers should simply trade away all future third-round picks. Sean Rhyan, a third-round pick out of UCLA, has not gotten much playing time this year. He did play in the preseason and looked fine in this playing time. However, with the health uncertainty of David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, it is possible that Rhyan could have seen the field. Now, he will not see the field for at least six games. It is unclear what substance he tested positive for.
Not Great For The Rookie
For a team that will need to make a lot of tough decisions in the offseason, this is not the impression Rhyan wanted to make. Six games is basically the rest of the season and limit his opportunity to show he can be a part of the future. The Packers also have a history of not wanting to deal with off-the-field issues like performance-enhancing drugs. This may lead the team to cut him in the offseason. With Amari Rodgers being cut this year, the Packers have shown they are not scared to move on from players.
Packers rookie Sean Rhyan being suspended is another blow to this already disappointing season. In a season like this, you want to see young players develop so they can help the team in the future. This is looking like another wasted third-round pick by the Packers.
