Green Bay Packers news and rumors this offseason, once again, are centered around Aaron Rodgers. From trade rumors, to retirement questions, to his relationship with teammates, nothing that Rodgers does or has done is free from the microscope of fans and the media. In a recent interview on the Maggie and Perloff Show on CBS Sports, current Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs stated that he never hung out with Rodgers outside of practice or games. He did say the team had a Halloween party and that Rodgers was there. Besides that, though, he and Rodgers never hung out.
This, of course, led to several fans and analysts criticizing Rodgers for not forming good relationships with his young wide receivers. Several former Packers players, however, came to defense of Rodgers.
Former Packers Players Do Not Think It’s a Big Deal
The majority of fans, it seems, have a notion that players on their favorite teams are all best friends and hang out outside of team activities often. Several former Packers players, though, have disputed that notion on social media.
Mike Wahl
🤦♂️#NFL players don’t necessarily spend time outside the building with teammates. There is a generational age difference between 12 and 87. 4 didn’t hang out with us for same reason. Not a good narrative. https://t.co/6pevPvFfaz

Lane Taylor
People are always trying to make Aaron a bad guy. I guess he should have spent his free time doing trust falls with the rookie wide receivers https://t.co/HNQsxuzewb

Bryan Bulaga
Yeah this is ridiculous. I never “hung” out with 12 till my 3 or 4th year in the league . He came to oline dinner with us regularly I think in my 5th year . This isn’t college. Stop with this garbage https://t.co/adb98Va9e0

Will Blackmon
I didn’t hang out with my 40 year old teammates when I was 22 years old either 😂 https://t.co/h0K5aebJZz

John Kuhn
On his show “Nine 2 Noon.” former Packers full back John Kuhn did express some surprise that Rodgers did not interact at all with the young wide receivers.
