Former Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins, unfortunately, knows all there is to know about scary, life-altering injuries. Having played with Aaron Rodgers, he also knows a thing or two about the current Packers quarterback. Collins joined his fellow teammate, John Kuhn, on “Nine 2 Noon” on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee to discuss the Damar Hamlin situation and gave his insight on the questions surrounding Rodgers’ future in Green Bay.
Nick Collins Shares His Thoughts on Aaron Rodgers
John Kuhn asked his former teammate what his thoughts were on the future of Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Will he come back or will he go play somewhere else?
“I do think he’ll be playing. I do think, um, he wanna to retire as a Packer. I don’t think he wanna go anywhere else. But it depends on both parties, man, and how they gonna try to make that happen. I do think he will be a Packer deep down, but there is another part of me that says he may be open to exploring other options.
On the comparison between the Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers situations:
“It was a total disaster man. A total disaster. I mean, we had little kids out there calling A-Rod trash. It was a mess. But at the end of the day it worked out for both parties. Brett continued to have success from moving on and A-Rod had success with the chance to step in.”
Nick Collins on the Damar Hamlin Situation
Knowing that Collins suffered a scary injury himself, Kuhn asked him what his thoughts were as he watched the Damar Hamlin situation.
“Man, that was it was a definite. It hit me like I couldn’t believe this actually happened… The first thing that popped in my head was ‘I was that guy,’ just laying there on the field for minutes not moving… For him, it took a little longer than we wanted it to, but for him, I’m, just glad he is still here with us on this earth.”
Fans may remember that Nick Collins’ career with the Packers was cut short due to a severe neck injury. Many believe that had he not gotten hurt, his possible career projectile would have sent him to the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
