The Green Bay Packers will have a little less at stake Sunday night in Seattle against the NFC West-leading Seahawks.
Following the Los Angeles Rams’ victory, on the road, over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, the Packers no longer have the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot on Sunday night.
However, with four games remaining, this might merely be prolonging the inevitable.
According to NFL.com, the outcome Sunday night should play a minimal role in determining whether quarterback Jordan Love, running back Josh Jacobs, and stalwart safety Xavier McKinney will be returning to the postseason for a second consecutive year.
That’s because even if the Packers lose, Green Bay would still have a 93 percent chance of qualifying for the postseason. Likewise, a Packers win would increase their odds of making the Playoffs to 99 percent.
Entering Sunday’s action at 9-4, Green Bay would be the No. six seed in the NFC Playoffs, if the regular season ended today. The Packers would need some help from the Minnesota Vikings stumbling down the stretch to climb the bracket, however.
