Jordan Love didn’t waste any time getting Romeo Doubs involved in the Green Bay Packers‘ signature victory of the season, a 30-13 shellacking of the NFC West-leading Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday night.
On the Packers’ second possession of the game, Love delivered a dart to Doubs who wound up finding the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown, but not before bulldozing a pair of Seahawks defenders the final four yards.
Doubs’ touchdown catch and run was a tone-setter for not just the Packers’ offense, but for the kind of game Green Bay planned on taking to the Seahawks in Seattle. What made the star wide receiver’s performance all the more impressive is that Week 15 marked his return after spending several weeks in the concussion protocol.
“You know, that was something that I really haven’t seen out of Rome, just running guys over and carrying them, putting the team on his back,” Love told reporters after the game. “But I think it just shows how much he loves it and is willing to fight for those extra yards and just fight to get that touchdown. So that was a great play by him.
“You always want to have your best guys out there healthy, and it was tough not having Rome out there, but to get him back, and obviously him having those two touchdowns was huge tonight. You know, he’s one of our best playmakers on offense, so it’s always good having him back out there.”
Jordan Love, Romeo Doubs Lead Packers Past Seahawks
Doubs’ box score numbers won’t set the world on fire, catching three passes for 40 yards, but he scored two touchdowns and his return seemed to spark the Packers’ passing game.
Through his first 11 games this season, Doubs has pulled down 37 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns, but could see his role uptick after his strong return to action.
Meanwhile, Love lit up the Seahawks for 229 yards and a pair of touchdowns while posting a stellar 123.8 passer rating, in a performance that suggested this Packers team could be primed to make a run in the NFC.
