The Green Bay Packers have built one of the more exciting collections of young talent in the NFL, around a quarterback who seems well on his way to cementing himself as one of the best at the position.
There’s a reason why ESPN lists the Packers as the No. 6 brightest future in the league. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t possible landmines ahead that could derail Green Bay’s championship aspirations over the next several seasons.
Packers WR Corps Remains Major Worry

Despite the Packers’ best efforts to build a strong receiving corps around Love, the initial returns have been uninspiring.
Against the New York Jets in the preseason opener, Packers receivers still struggled with dropped passes, which have plagued Green Bay’s pass catchers the past two seasons.
While rookie Matthew Golden’s speed flashed in Week 1 of the exhibition slate, former NFL executive and current NFL analyst Louis Riddick suggests the Packers have a long way to go to having a deep and competent crop of receivers.
“My concern is with the health/availability/consistency at wide receiver,” Riddick writes for ESPN. “It has been a combination of these factors that has kept this team from fully exploding on the scene. Specifically, Green Bay needs Christian Watson to return from his ACL injury and be better than ever. It also needs Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks to reduce their drops (combined for 18 in 2024) and for rookie first-rounder Matthew Golden to have an immediate impact.”
What Golden and fellow rookie Savion Williams develop into will go a long way towards determining the trajectory of the Packers’ receiving corps at large. Likewise, whether Reed and Wicks can cut down on the dropped passes and become more consistent playmakers may be the biggest question facing the Packers in 2025, and beyond.
