Through two weeks, and especially after Micah Parsons’ arrival just before the regular season kicked off, the Packers have looked every bit the part of a favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
After knocking off the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions in emphatic fashion, before shutting down Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders, who reached the NFC Championship Game last season, the Packers are among the highest graded teams across the NFL.
Over at CBS Sports, NFL analyst Cody Benjamin gives the Packers an “A” for last Thursday night’s victory over Washington.
“Tucker Kraft balled out as Jordan Love’s primary target with top wideout Jayden Reed exiting due to injury,” Benjamin writes for CBS. “But this was even more about the Packers defense. With Micah Parsons fully charged up off the edge, the front seven bottled up Jayden Daniels until the game was already decided, reaffirming Green Bay as the NFC’s newest heavyweight. The 27-18 final score doesn’t do justice to the Packers’ decisive win.”
The results have spoken for themselves for the Packers, who are winning with defense–buoyed by Parsons’ dominance, are currently ranked third in the NFL in total defense, while posting a top-15 offense as a complementary weapon.
As Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense continue to become more prolific with the emergence of speedster rookie receiver Matthew Golden, Christian Watson’s impending return, and Tucker Kraft’s continued dominance, Green Bay may become even more difficult to beat for teams moving forward this season.
