The Green Bay Packers picked up a much-needed win for playoff positioning, dominating the Seattle Seahawks in nearly every facet of a 30-13 win on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Packers rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper emerged as a budding superstar, in the finest performance to date of his first NFL season.
Cooper’s first career interception came in a pivotal moment with just over five minutes remaining, to thwart an ill-fated Seahawks comeback attempt, in addition to logging five total tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss.
Thanks to his breakout performance, Pro Football Focus awarded Cooper a stellar 95.5 grade for his performance against the Seahawks. Not only was Walker the highest-graded player in Sunday night’s game, but the highest-graded player across the NFL in Week 15.
“[Cooper] was targeted five times in coverage, allowing just one catch for 1 yard,” Mark Chichester writes for PFF. “Along with his interception, Cooper forced an incompletion and narrowly missed another pick earlier in the fourth quarter. His performance resulted in a 0.0 passer rating allowed on throws into his coverage.
“Cooper’s impact wasn’t limited to coverage — he also notched a tackle for loss against the run and recorded a sack and a quarterback hit on just three pass-rush snaps.”
If Cooper can build on his strong performance against the Seahawks, over the Packers’ final three games of the regular season and into the playoffs, Green Bay is going to be a formidable defense the rest of the way.
