The Green Bay Packers couldn’t have had a worse draw as far as their opponent in the NFC Wild Card round.
After falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular season opener in Brazil, the Packers will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the NFC East champion and 14-win Eagles in hopes of repeating last season’s run to the NFC Divisional Playoffs.
However, despite the fact that head coach Matt LaFleur played the Packers’ starters in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears hoping to avoid an opening-round trip to the City of Brotherly Love against the likes of A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, and the Eagles, Green Bay fell to their bitter rivals 27-25 in heartbreaking fashion. The Packers also lost wide receiver Christian Watson to a torn ACL.
Packers Must Reverse Troubling Trend in NFL Playoffs
As the postseason begins, NFL analyst Marcus Mosher points out that the Packers have a pretty big weakness they’re going to need to overcome if they are going to make it to the divisional round for the second consecutive season.
“The Packers have been a good team all year,” Mosher points out for The 33rd Team. “But their inability to beat high-level teams is a concern going into the postseason. And with a matchup set against the Eagles, they are certainly going to be tested right away.”
Green Bay, of course, was 0-5 against the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Eagles during the 2024 campaign and will need to turn that trend around immediately if the Packers hope to avoid a one-and-done situation in these playoffs.
